The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Bethel Congregation, Biniani, has presented five sewing machines and one dryer to six members of the church.
This was in consonance with a directive from the Hon. Member of Parliament to the church to scout for needy members of the church and enroll them in apprenticeship programmes. Out of the six beneficiaries, five will be trained as seamstresses and the other one will also be trained as a hairdresser.
In a short ceremony officiated by Mr. Charles Assuah, a catechist of the church on Sunday, the beneficiaries were admonished to work hard and make good use of the opportunity.
The beneficiaries and their families were very grateful to the MP and the leaders of the church for the kind gesture.
In the run -up to the 2020 General Elections, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng donated about 1000 sewing machines and 200 hair dryers to communities, chiefs, churches and certain individuals for apprenticeship programmes. This was in line with the MP’s vision of development and prosperity. This is a major step towards poverty alleviation. Hon. Obeng is commended for this initiative.
The Member of Parliament has however promised to cover the cost of the apprenticeship programme.
The Presbyterian church in Bibiani is hereby commended for demonstrating true leadership by attending to both spiritual and physical needs of the members.
