President Akufo-Addo Commissions A 3-Storey Administration Block For Western North Regional Coordinating Council

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has commissioned a three-storey administration block for Western North Regional Coordinating Council (WNRCC), to ensure smooth administration of good governance in the new Region.

Speaking at a short ceremony to commission the project, the President said the two-day working visit to the region formed part of his annual itinerary to abreast himself with the people, to inspect ongoing projects and to commission other projects that, his government has undertaken in the newly created regions.

The two-day working visit also afford him the opportunity to have a closed meeting with the traditional leaders, clergy, stakeholders, philanthropies and organisations.

President Akufo-Addo during the meeting indicated that, the regional coordinating council was started in his bid to create Western North during his pledge made in 2016 general election.

This, he said, compelled other regions’ representatives to subsequently called on him to also split them from their mother regions, so there was the need to start and finish the regional coordinating council for Western North.

President Akufo-Addo said,Municipality and Districts in Western North Region have gotten it’s shared of the regional institutions.

He mentioned for instance, Bibiani has had Regional Education office which is about 88% complete, Agricultural Development block at Juaboso(80% complete), Regional Feeder Roads administration block at Enchi(70% complete), and Regional Health administration block at Bodi which is 70% complete.

He emphasised that additional three districts would benefit from Agenda 111 Project. He named Bodi, Suaman and Bia East District’s to benefit from Agenda 111 Project to cater for healthcare needs in the region.

President Akufo-Addo touted the naysayers as nothing has been done in the newly created regions, but has thrown a challenge that they can now see some infrastructural development.

He admitted that, there were challenges in the economy but the Minister of Finance, Minister of Roads and Highways and Local Government Minister were doing their possible best to help infrastructural growth.

He urged traditional authorities, clergy, muslims communities to help supporting government to achieve it’s vision.

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, eulogized the Akufo-Addo government for his tremendous performance in the region and the peace and tranquility brought to them.

Ogyeahohoo, who is also the President of the National House of Chief appealed to Assembly Members in the region to confirm MMDCES appointees by President Akufo-Addo to foster development in the region since they have gotten a new administration to start business.

The President was accompanied by the Western North Regional Minister, Mr Richard Ebbah Obeng, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Dr Kwaku Afriyie, Western North Regional Chairman of NPP, Mr Williams Benjamin Assuah.

The rest are the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Dan Kwaku Botwe, Minister for roads and highways, Mr Kwaku Amoako Atta, Minister for Chieftantincy, Lawyer Kwadwo Kum who doubles as MP for Ahanta West Constituency.
