The Constituency Executives Members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sefwi Akontombra in the Western North Region are calling on their Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Alex Tetteh to suspend all parliamentary business and come back home to protect his seat ahead of the 2024 elections.
According to the aggressive party officials, the MP have few heed to their call or they resign from their position.
They arrived at this decision following the perceived disrespectful attitude and mafia tactics by the Western North Regional Minister, Mr Richard Obeng Ebbah and Western Regional Chairman Mr Benjamin Assuah to undermine their operations in the Constituency.
They said, the actions of their Regional Minister and Regional Chairman is making NPP party unattractive and difficult to discharge duties.
At a press conference held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at NPP constituency office at Sefwi Akontombra, the aggrieved constituency officials called on National Executives Committee (NEC) as a matter of urgency to send delegation to the Constituency to investigate this issues to safeguard the fortunes of the Party.
“The NEC of our Party must call chairman Mr. Benjamin Assuah and Mr Richard Obeng Ebbah to order to safe the party from opposition in 2024 elections.
Mr Harry Addo, the Constituency Secretary who addressed the media, said actions from the Minister and Regional Chairman is to make our MP unpopular and unseat him come 2024”, he said.
He cited for instance, constituency executives suspended one Mr Ampem Darko, the Constituency Youth Organiser for openly campaigning for his brother on the ticket of NDC.
Moreover, former women’s organiser Hannah Aurther was also suspended over misconduct.
He said the Regional Chairman without recourse to constituency executives lifted the suspension the three culprits.
These among other attitudes and mafia plans from the Western North Regional Minister and Regional Chairman, the Constituency Secretary said undermines and makes the party unattractive.
“We believe that, both the Minister and Regional Chairman have aimed to unseat Mr Alex Tetteh so we want him to boycott parliamentary business and come back to defend his seat for 2024”, he reiterated.
