The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reappointed Mr Yawson Amoah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sefwi Akontombra in the Western North Region as his first (DCE) after a long wait for appointment of the MMDCEs his second term in government.
President Akufo-Addo had indicated that there are series of controversies about the appointment of the MMDCEs in his second term.
The delay according to Local Government experts has hinded the development of the country.
He made the pronouncement during Day One of his two-day working visit to the Western North Region.
The visit formed part of his plan to acquaint himself with the people, to inspect ongoing projects and to commission other projects that his government has undertaken in the newly created region.
Before the President Akufo-Addo’s Reappointment of Mr Yawson Amoah, the Chief of Sefwi-Akontombra, Nana Kwabena Bioh Il, and Member of Parliament MP for the area had appealed to the President to maintain incumbent DCE for his good work.
Nana Bioh II, indicated that, the cordial relationship between Mr Yawson and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akontombra Constituency Mr Alex Tetteth have yielded fruitful results in the area.
He mentioned Education, Health, Roads, Portable Drinking water, Extension of Electricity, Sanitation, Business centres and employment for the youth as some of the projects and programmes they jointly executed in the area.
The chief pointed out that, the good relationship between the two political figures have also helped the residents of Akontombra to benefit from the numerous government policies and Programmes which include, One District, One Factory (1D1F), Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP), Nation’s Builders Corps (NABCO), Planting for Food & Jobs, Free Senior High School and Restoration of teacher trainee and nurse allowances.
The chief described Mr Yawson as a respectful, humble, affable, down to earth, hardworking and above all God fearing person who seeks unity among the people in the District.
He further stated that the four year term period for Mr Yawson as the District Chief Executive had been a blessing to the people of Sefwi -Akontombra following his tremendous achievements, hence the need to retain him as DCE.
The Member for Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Akontombra Constituency Mr Alex Tetteh in a speech praised the President for been a listening government to consider the choice of him, chiefs and constituents of Sefwi Akontombra for reappointment of Mr Amoah Yawson for the second term in office.
He urged the DCE to maintain the cordial relationship that exists between them to ensure sustainable development.
