A 36 year-old businessman, has allegedly stabbed his wife to death at Degede in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
The body of the deceased, Joyce Johnes Affi Jassika, 24, has been conveyed to the Bibiani government hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The suspect has been identified as Emmanuel Okyere Baffour.
Superintendent of Police Seth Serwonu, the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Divisional Crime Officer, who disclosed this to Myvoicenews.com reporter, said on Thursday August 5, this year, a relation of the deceased reported to the police on phone that their daughter had been stabbed to death in her room by unknown assailant.
He said based on the information the police proceeded to the scene and found the lifeless body of Joyce in a pool of blood with multiple knife wounds.
Superintendent Serwonu stated that the police discovered in its preliminary investigations that the deceased and the suspect who lived at Kronom-Afrancho, a suburb of Kumasi in Ashanti Region had been married for two and half years but due to some misunderstanding Joyce decided to quit the marriage.
He said the deceased packed her belongings and left the matrimonial home to live with her parents at Degede but Emmanuel who wanted to save his marriage visited Joyce and pleaded with her to return home which she refused.
The Crime Officer said on the same, at about 12:00 pm, the suspect went to the deceased’s house while the parents were away and stabbed her severally with a knife after which he covered the body with a cloth and absconded.
Superintendent Serwonu added that investigations into the case is ongoing to apprehend the prepertrator.
Meanwhile, the Bibiani Municipal Police Command has secured a warrant from the Bibiani Magistrate Court to declare the suspect, Baffour Okyere Wanted.
