The Bibiani Magistrate Court has remanded into police custody
Emmanuel Baffour Okyere. The 28-year-old businessman was arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Jessica Affi at Degede a suburb of Bibiani.
Police Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Benjamin Owusu Agyeapong, told the Court that on August 5, 2021 a complainant, Mr Enoch Gyasi Ekuoba popularly known as Rasta called the Bibiani police on phone and informed them about the unfortunate incident about his nephew in her bedroom at Dedege in Bibiani, where the incident occurred.
Chief Inspector Owusu Agyeman said when the police proceeded to the scene, they found the deceased in a pool of blood and convey the body to the Bibiani Government Hospital morgue for autopsy and presentation.
According to him, the suspect, Okyere Baffuor had married with the deceased Joyce Johnes Affi Jassika for two years without children and both reside in Kronum-Afrancho, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
He further stressed the deceased once called her mother and complained bitterly about the bad treatment her husband meted to her.
The Prosecutor, mentioned for instance, lashing her with belt at the slightest disagreement. The police also alleged that the suspect at a time urinated into a “Don simon” bottle and forced her to drink.
The deceased mother advised her to exercise partient any anytime the deceased calls, but she later realized that she was going through hell so the decreased parked all her belongings while her husband had travelled to Accra and quickly ran to her parents at Bibiani Dedege for her safety.
He explained further that on the day of the incident Thursday August 5, 2021, about 11:45 AM, an eyewitness saw the suspect infront of the deceased house at Bibiani Dedege in the absence of her family members.
He told the Court that the suspect quickly attacked the deceased with sharp metal and killed her and later went into hiding.
The Prosecutor said, it took the Bibiani police command to secured Court warrant from Bibiani Magistrate Court to declared suspect wanted.
He also indicated through the collaborative effort between Bibiani Police Command and Manhyia Police that led to his arrest in Oforikrom, Kumasi and later transferred to Bibiani for trial.
The Court presided over by His Worship Peter Dapileh remanded him into police custody to reappear on August 27,2021.
