Ghana Prisons Service Gets Eight Unit Story Block

A durbar has been held for the official handing over of an eight unit of one bedroom four storey block to the Ghana Prisons Service at Roman Ridge, Accra.

At a short ceremony to hand over the project for usage, the Greater Accra Regional consultant of A. E. S.L Architectural and Engineering Services, Naa Kwarley Quartey, indicated that defects detected within 6 months in relation to their inputs would be fixed by the contractor.

The Director of Prisons in charge of Services and Technical, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, who received the keys to the building on behalf the Director-General of Prisons, expressed her gratitude for the completion of the project.

” It is quite fulfilling to see this structure completed after several years”, she stated.

The project which started about 30 years ago, experienced a lot of hitches but was revisited 2 years ago, culminating in its handing over on Wednesday.

The programme attracted a lot of dignitaries including; DDP Joana Fofo Tackie-Otoo(Mrs), Regional Commander and Commandant of the Prison Officers Training School, DDP Raphael Tuekpe, Officer-in-charge of James Camp Prison, ADP Millicent Owusu(Mrs), Officer-in-charge of Senior Correctional Centre, Rev. Canon CSP S.S Adama Okai and other Senior Officers within the Greater Accra Region.

Others were Maynard Korley, Regional Quantity Surveyor, Basil Akushie, Regional Architect and Kenneth Akotua, Gwakunda Engineering(Contractor).
