The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cocobod, Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo has announced to the notice of the cocoa farmers that his outfit is set to provide Electronic Scales for purchasing of dry cocoa beans in 2021/2022 cocoa seasons.
He said, the devices when introduced would go a long way to end illegal adjustment and protect cocoa farmers from being cheated by purchasing clerks.
He intimated that, he has received complaints from cocoa farmers about illegal adjustment of weighing scales by the PCs.
Mr Boahen Aidoo made this declaration when he was speaking on joynews at one of their Programmes held in Accra and monitored by myvoicenews.com
He said cocoa has been a major exportable crop to Ghana and contributes tremendously to the economic growth of the country.
Mr Boahen Aidoo further disclosed that a research by his outfit in some part of the country indicate that the adjustment of scales by some cocoa buying companies is posing a serious challenge to Ghana’s cocoa sector of which the cocoa farmers consider it as an unfair treatment on their part.
He therefore, assured cocoa farmers that, COCOBOD will ensure that all Cocoa buying companies operating in the country without the electronic scales come 2021/2022 cocoa season will not be licensed.
