Black Sherif has responded to calls from some fans to compose a song to lambast the abysmal performance of those in government.
The 21-year-old musician who was just named Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), has promised to use his platform to urge the current administration to act morally and in the best interests of the populace.
Sherif, whose career has been on an upward trajectory since he entered the public eye only a few years ago, explained to Berla Mundi a few days after his victory at the VGMAs that his music is not political in nature.
When questioned about the state of the country and the administration at the time, he acknowledged the complexity of the issues. He admitted that he was hesitant to provide a full analysis at this time.
The 21- year old rapper is quoted as saying;
AS I SIT HERE RIGHT NOW, I DON’T KNOW HOW TO COMMENT ON THE ISSUES REGARDING THE GOVERNMENT. BUT MAYBE NEXT YEAR, OR IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS, I’LL KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ON THAT. IT’S LONG TO CHAT THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT TO THE PEOPLE THAT’S WHY I LOVE THAT THERE’S NO BARRIER BETWEEN ME AND THE PEOPLE BECAUSE OF MY MUSIC.
