The Kumasi Drainage and Roads Extension Project being undertaken by Chinese Company, China Henan International Co-operation Group (CHIGO), would be ready for government takeover by December 30, 2022.
This was revealed by the project engineers when President Nana Akufo-Addo visited the project site at Atonsu, in the Asokwa constituency, as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region on October 3, 2021.
The project involves the lining of the Sissai River, for two kilometres, to reduce the incidence of flooding.
The project also includes construction of a two-by-two dual carriageway from the Coca Cola bottling plant to Dompoase junction to ease traffic on the Kumasi Lake Road which would cover a distance of approximately 4.7kms.
The construction of Dompoase terminal to relocate the terminal in front of the Kumasi south hospital is also inclusive.
The project is 78 per cent complete and funded by Government of Ghana with support from Agence Francaise de’Developpment (AFD).
