Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘snl’ Appearance Canned in Wake of Writers Strike

Lil Uzi Vert‘s debut onSaturday Night Livehas been canceled following the WGA’s writer strike which has put the NBC show in the dark.

The Generation Now rapper’s SNL appearance will have to wait now that the episode featuring them as musical guest won’t be taking place given that the show won’t be producing additional episodes for Season 48.

SNL typically runs through May before going on a summer break but Variety relayed that NBC will be airing repeats in the regular slot for the time being.

In addition to Uzi’s scrapped debut, former castmate Pete Davidson’s appearance as host — his first time being on the show since leaving SNL following Season 47 — has also been iced.

Many wondered how Uzi’s friend Kanye West would feel about hanging with Davidson amid their feud and Kim Kardashian love triangle.

Kanye and Lil Uzi have had a relationship that dates back years, even linking up on Travis Scott‘s “Watch” single in 2018.

But if West’s fallout with Kid Cudi over his friendship with Davidson is anything to go by, Ye likely wasn’t thrilled about the host for Uzi’s SNL debut.

Although, Uzi did receive some good news recently when their “Strawberry Peels” lawsuit was settled in April before heading to federal court.

Court documents obtained by HipHopDX revealed that Sun City Publishing — who owns the rights to Blackout’s 1995 song “Dim Da Lights,” which was allegedly sampled without permission in “Strawberry Peels” — came to a joint settlement agreement with the Atlantic Recording Corporation.

Though the terms of the settlement were not disclosed, the parties “reached an agreement in principle for the resolution of this action, in its entirety, and that they anticipate filing within thirty days their Stipulation to the dismissal of this action,” according to the order.

“Strawberry Peels” features Gunna and Young Thug and the Wheezy-produced track appears on Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake album, which dropped in 2020. It currently boasts over 39 million streams on Spotify.
