The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai has presented a cheque of undisclosed amount to Ghana Fire Service in Bibiani Municipality to enable them repair their fire tender which has been out of service for some time.
The cheque was received on behalf of the Ghana National Fire Service by Nana Sarfo, second in command at Bibiani Municipal Fire Office.
Presenting the cheque to the fire officer at Bibiani, the MP admonished the office to work hard and take all safety precautions into consideration in their line of duty.
Mr Obeng Boateng urged them to do their possible best to save human life and property, since that is their core mandate.
He also tasked them to embark on preventive ventures by engaging in more educative programmes rather than curative measures of fighting wild fire. Swift response should be given to calls from the public as well. “Since the dry season is at the corner, we should act swiftly to curb all potential fires.” He indicated.
Mr Sarfo after receiving the gesture said the fire tender was received in 2010 and it has undergone maintenance on several occasions. It developed a major fault in May, 2021. All efforts to put the tender back on the road proved futile.
He indicated that the Municipal Chief Fire Officer, Mr.Joseph Amihere has traveled to their headquarters for the parts and commended the MP for his candid support to cover the cost of workmanship.
The officer was thankful and promised to relay the message to the entire staff.
He also briefed the MP on the progress of work on the tender.
Nana Sarfo also appealed to other Philanthropists, Non-governmental Agencies (NGO’S), Organisations and individuals to assist the office to enable it to address some of its challenges so as to serve Municipality.

Myvoicenews.com reporter hits the principle streets of Bibiani, the Municipal capital to ascertain the views and suggestions of the populace after the Ghana Fire Service in Bibiani had received support from the MP to bring back the fire tender to curb all disaster related cases in the Municipality.
It was revealed that the absence of the fire tender has affected people, adding that several properties have lost due the break down of the fire tender.
They went ahead and even indicated that there was firebreak at a building in Gyedi a suburb of Bibiani, opposite the Bibiani Senior High School (SHS) last week which destroyed all their personal belongings and cash running into millions of Ghana cedis.
An eyewitness gave an account that, when the fire started, they called on Bibiani Fire Service situated a few meters away but they claimed “they do not have fire tender to quench the flame which led to the destruction of a complete house.
The residents used the opportunity to praised the MP for his immense contributions towards the well-being of the people for his short stay in office.
