A-38- year old woman, Doris Dzifa a pedestrian who was standing at the road side waiting to board a commercial vehicle has met her untimely death in a fatal road accident at Suhum in the Eastern Region.
The accident which occurred on Thursday, August 12, 2021, afternoon about 3:30pm also left three others in critical condition and are on admission at Suhum Government Hospital.
G/Sgt Godwin Kploanyi of Suhum District Accident Squad told the media that, the unfortunate incident occurred when a Honda Accord Private car with the trade plate number DV 2115C-2021 with three persons on board driving from Accra towards Kumasi.
He said on reaching a section of the road at Krobom-Obretema near Suhum on the Accra-Kumasi highway, the driver of private car Michael Kotei, a 36 year-old lost control of steering wheel and veered off the road and finally landed in a nearby bush and knocked down a female pedestrian.
The body of the deceased cut into two pieces and died on the spot.
Sgt. Kploanyi said the body of the deceased had been desposited at Suhum Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the injured on admission are responding to treament.
He indicated that the accident vehicle has been impounded at the Suhum police station for testing.
