Mr George Mireku Duker, a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has hinted that the Adukrom Mining Project is expected to create jobs for over 7,000 youth within the Ahafo Ano South-East District and it’s surrounding.
The Deputy Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem and in-charge of mines disclosed this on Friday August 20, 2021 at a colourful durbar at Adukrom to launch the Adukrom Community Mining Scheme under the theme : Jobs For The Youth In Sustainable Mining”.
He said, the government was committed to reduce unemployment among the youth hence the introduction of the Community Mining Scheme.
The Legislature advised the youth to take advantage of mining project to improve upon their living conditions.
After inaugurating the project, Mr Duker led a delegation made up of Mr. Benito Owusu-Bio, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Nwabiagya North and a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Martin Ayisi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Minerals Commission, Mr Joseph Agyeman Dapaah, DCE for Ahafo Ano South-East, and Mr Patrick Adusei,District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South-West to the mining site for inspection.
Others were the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ahafo Ano Municipal, Mrs Martina Appiah-Nyantakyi, Mr Kaleem Abdallah Adam, the District Coordinating Director (DCD) for Ahafo Ano South-East and traditional leaders.
At the mining site he advised the miners to make the place conducive for mining activities.
He tasked the miners to build fit-for-purpose washrooms, dressing rooms, security checkpoint and ensure that they were on protective gear when they are on site.
