The New Partrotic Party (NPP), led by the President of Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned an ultra modern durbar ground named; Professor Adu-Boahen Public Square at Juaben in the Ashanti Region in honour of the late Professor Adu-Boahen.
The party also erected a BUST of the late Professor Albert Adu-Boahen at the entrance of the project to honour his hard work and achievements for the party and Ghana as a whole.
The late renowned scholar of history, politician and an advocate for democratic governance in Ghana needs no further introduction as far as his role in formation of the NPP is concerned.
The Project which is under the one million dollars per constituency initiative comes along with conference hall, band stand, car park and
VIP annex with wash room is expected to serve the people of Jauben Municipality during public functions.
President Akufo-Addo speaking at commissioning praised the late Prof. Adu-Boahen, a native of Juaben for his immense contributions towards the solid building of the NPP party and sustainability of democracy in Ghana.
He described the late Professor Adu-Boahen as a man of supreme courage and integrity that was able to walked in where angels feared to tread.
According to him, the late Prof. Adu-Boahen, who was the first flag bearer of the New Partrotic Party (NPP) gave them courage and voice to claim their dignity as a nation and people, at a time when the Conspiracy of Silence was holding us in thrall to a brutal dictationship.
‘It took only the late Professor Adu-Boahen to fight against the Culture of Silence and preached for democracy which compelled the late President Jerry John Rawlings into the 1992 General Elections that has led to the current democratic dispensetion that Ghanaians are enjoying today.’ He revealed.
President Akufo-Addo was thankful to late Prof. Adu-Boahen for the impact had on him, when he served as his campaign manager in 1992 general elections and now President of Republic of Ghana.
Nana Otuo Siribour ll, the Paramount Chief of Juaben Traditional Area, was thankful to President Akufo-Addo and the leaderships of the New Partrotic Party (NPP) for recognizing the legacies, achievements and honoured done the late Professor Adu-Boahen.
Nana Otuo Siribour ll, who is also the President of Council of State hailed Mr Joe Dankwa, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Middle Belts Authority for fantastic work and pledged to ensure regular maintenance.
He, therefore, appealed to the contractors who are working on the various projects within the Municipality such as toilet facilities, mechanized boreholes, classroom block and AstroTurf to speed up work to ensure completion on time for usage.
