Oyeadeeyie Basape Kwadwo Armah lll, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Area in the Western North Region has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to carve Sefwi Bekwai out of Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality to be a new District.
The proposal for the new District among other benefits, according to the chief would go a long way to bring governance closer to the people, if the approval is given.
Oyeadeeyie Basape lll, said the new District are usually comes along with infrastractural development, boost of economic growth and create employment avenues for the youth in the area.
He indicated that, the land size, population and other economic activities in the area qualify the place for a new District.
Oyeadeeyie Kwadwo Armah lll, made the appeal to the President through the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area and also the President of National House of the Chiefs Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi ll, when President Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on them at Sefwi Anhwiaso, as part of his two-day working visit to the Western North Region.
The President in his response was greateful to the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Council and gave assurance that his request would be referred to the Minister for Local Governanment and Rural Development Mr Dan Kwaku Botwe to facilitate the process to address his demand.
