The District Chief Executive(DCE) for Ahafo Ano South-East in the Ashanti Region, Mr Thomas Owusu Ansah has appealed to parents to support the government to deliver quality education.
According to the DCE, ensuring quality education is a shared responsibility between the government, school authorities, teachers and parents.
He opined that the government via the ministry of education is doing everything possible to provide logistics and human resources(teachers and non- teaching staff), however, without parents’ role the impact would not be great.
He made the observation in a meeting with executives of Parents Association of basic schools in his office on Tuesday afternoon at Adugyama.
Mr Owusu Ansah told parents to visit schools, to motivate teacher, assess conditions of students and schools, and complement the effort of government to provide quality education.
The DCE who provided about 300 sets of trunks, chop boxes, and mattresses to students who excelled in last Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), said he would provide the needed support to the Association to help discharge its mandate.
Mr Thomas Ntim, chairman of Association thanked the DCE for his warm reception and appealed for his cooperation and support.
The chairman was accompanied by Mr Joseph Nyantakyi, Vice Chairman, Mr James Okyere, Secretary, and Mr Gyaboode Gouba, Assistant Secretary.
Others were Mr Stephen Amponsah, Organiser and Mr Osei Owusu, Chaplain.
