At least thirteen persons have died in a head-on collision involving a Sprinter bus and a Metro Mass Transit Bus in between Sefwi Anhwiaso and Tanoso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
Twelve of them died on the spot while the other died shortly on arrival at Anhwiaso Community Hospital.
The dead include the driver of the sprinter bus, his wife and some SHS students.
Twenty others, who sustained various degrees of injuries, are receiving treatment at the Anhwiaso Community Hospital and Bibiani Government Hospital respectively.
Five of the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Anhwiaso Community Hospital and Bibiani Government Hospital mortuary.
ASP Emmanuel Osei, MTTD Commander, told the Daily Searchlight that the accident occurred around 1045 hours Monday morning.
He said on reaching Anhwiaso-Tanoso, the driver of the Sprinter bus attempted to overtake a tricycle popularly known and called Aboboyaa on top speed and run into the oncoming Metro Mass Bus with the registration number (As 7123), which was traveling from Kumasi to Sefwi Wiawso.
